pasting in recommendations to OSCAR

Everytime I try to paste a recommendation into the template that has the merge field already in it, it moves the merge field to the bottom of the letter. Even if I cut and paste the merge field back to the top, it moves it right back to the bottom. I cannot upload any references.
HELP!
